לאיום כלשהו על ביטחונה, אפילו ההיפותטי ביותר, להתממש בקלות.
לסיכום נאמר אפוא, כי בשניים-שלושה העשורים הקרובים לפחות לא נראה את סין כמאיימת על
שלום העולם. אין באמירה זו משום המלצה שלא לחשוש מפניה, אלא הצעה לראות את התפתחותה
של סין בעיניים פקוחות וערניות, ולא בסטיגמות של איום בלתי מבוסס.
